Gainslawhill is ideally situated for touring North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. We are 60 miles from Edinburgh and Newcastle by road (about 45 mins by Inter-City). The A1 passes close to Berwick-upon-Tweed . Buses run past the farm, but a car is advisable. A parking space is provided.

Apart from the unspoilt countryside there are many attractions in this region for ramblers, ornithologists, golfers, fishermen, historians or just plain holidaymakers.

There is trout fishing on the River Whiteadder on the farm and The Tweed is the south boundary of the farm, making access to ths river easy. This region is famed for the quality and number of golf courses, links courses being close by on the coast. Lindisfarne (Holy Island)  is well known as are the Farne Islands, nearby, famous for their sea bird and seal populations. The sandy beaches at Scremerston, Bamburgh and Spittal are excellent.

The town of Berwick is steeped in history and there are too many stately homes, castles and battlefields locally to list here.
